The problem I have is that I am bottom of the totem pole and everyone thinks they are my boss. My job description seems to be growing daily and no one seems to want to take responsibilty the culture is it's not my job so things are starting to fall apart. Everyone wants to be chief but I'm the only indian left. Any suggestions what I should do?

Reply: You don't say how new you are at this job but I would guess you are fairly new there. This is a recurring problem in my workplace and I can relate to your problem nicely. The situation calls for assertiveness and tact. I would suggest letting your co-workers know that like them, you are swamped with work, and that your assigned projects and responsibilities, (those you were hired to do), have to be your number one priority. If this doesn't ease things up, you might want to sit down with your supervisor and discuss your job description, making it clear that there needs to be a trade off, ("If you feel that it is a priority for me to take on this added responsibility, I can agree to that, but first we must decide what responsibility we can drop so that I can do my job effectively and punctually")

Reply: That is a tough spot when everyone is bossing you around. You sound like a nice person. If you can try to create boundaries with people and only listen to you immediate supervisors. People will take advantage if you let them. Can you talk to your supervisor about the situation? Good luck

Reply: Find out how you fall into the overall management structure of the business, if you do not already know. If you are bottom rung of the ladder then accept that you will receive instruction from others, and you have a means of working your way up for the benefit you derive. If there is no demarcation of role/responsibiliy for people in the company consider how you could be seen in the lower role and what you could do to step up and what differentiates those who are higher up. Play the game and you should get yourself in a better position. Best luck and regards.
