I told the boss that the trainee was not ready to move to the next step and needed more practice on getting down what was already taught to her. I am the only person that has spent any time with this trainee. And I am the only person available to train her. The boss and co-boss are not available to be physically present during working hours. This trainee has taken it upon herself to do things she has no business doing yet and has completely messed them up and wasted time and materials. My boss had the trainnee work on the week-end with the co-boss. I explained 40 times or more that the trainee wasn't ready to go beyond the training she had already be given. My boss said she would explain all of this to the co-boss and everything would be okay. I get to work Monday to find out that the trainee has been taught about 50 steps beyond what I recommended and all of her work was approved by the co-boss and put out on the floor to be purchased...trouble is when I took all the things to quality management none of them passed and all were destroyed. The boss agreed with Quality management that the items needed destroyed. I feel like I deserve an apology for what has happened. I had just spent 45 minutes prior to "turning over the trainee to the co-boss" counseling the trainee that she wasn't going to be taught the next steps until she had completely mastered the steps she had already been taught. Now the "big" boss thinks that I should just forget what happened because in her words the co-boss is stupid and forgets things. However I am being held responsible for all the messed up materials and the trainee is now not listening to me at all. What do I do? I think a personal I'm sorry I did wrong is in order. To round this all off the boss is my sister and the co-boss is her sister in law. I had recommended that this trainee's employment not be extended pass the probation period because she was not picking up the work very well. The trainee is a nice person but she is not suited well for the work and continues to not improve. I have talked to the boss candidly but I am not allowed to talk to the co-boss at all. I can only see that I will have to quit this job and let the trainee take over....she was being trained to be a relief for my position. I do fear that the business will suffer. The boss has already taken about 3 tasks and said that the trainee would not be expected to do them because she couldn't seem to do them right....even thought I will still be expected to do them. I really don't know what to do at this point and I am very depressed. If anyonc can give me some advice I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you in advance for your time.
