    Difficult co-worker with bad habits

I am not having an issue with my boss, but a co-worker. This co-worker is lazy, has bad habits and told me of an unethical thing he did while he was in another department, which made me uneasy.

First, he sleeps at his desk, as well as in meetings (he once dozed off when the Senior VP was speaking to the team). As a senior of the group, I mentioned this during our coaching sessions regarding him dozing off at this desk and in meetings (other people have mentioned to me as well). He has indicated that due to his skin condition, he has been taking medication which made him drowsy. He has since started taking the medication at night time to prevent day-time drowsiness. Although the story was convincing enough, I knew it was not entirely true (I have other reasons which I won’t go into). Speaking of the skin condition, he constantly scratches his skin at his desk. I can imagine how uncomfortable and bothersome it must be for him. However, I find it also uncomfortable and bothersome as well. He scratches until his skin flakes off and bleeds yet I have not seen him put cream once. Also, he clips his nails at his desk at least 3 times a week, which I also find GROSS (he must have claws or something – how fast does his nails grow & why is he doing this at work?)

If the above is not bad enough, he has told me something that floored me. He has indicated that when he was in another department and had access to merchant database, he has given his relative (who worked for our direct competition) our merchant information such as merchant name, phone number, rates he is paying with us etc., so that his relative can contact the merchant and offer a better price. This totally goes against our privacy act, and code of conduct. I am not sure to this day why he has decided to tell me this – I am not his Priest!

I spoke to my boss about the above (excluding him sharing the merchant info), and she was actually aware of most of them. The management addressed the nail-clipping issue, but unsure of other issues. They offered to move me to another spot, but I refused. I asked whether he can be moved and I believe it is in the works, but unsure when this will actually happen. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.
