    virtual assistant - difficult client

This is probably not as serious a problem as actually being employed by a difficult person; but I really don't want to ditch this client if there is a way to make the situation tolerable. In Human Resources magazine they discussed 8 types of workplace behavior. This client is a commander; I am an achiever (part of the reason I don't want to give this up). I understand that he is so focused into his work that he can't even consider how he sounds to others. What bothers me is that he excuses his rudeness by blaming it on his behaviour type, coffee, exercise, etc. As long as he can excuse it, he seems to feel is is acceptable. He also throws in a few complements and I have hardened myself to letting them just go over my head. Recently I discussed this personality difference him quite calmly and he seemed to agree that he is aggressively rude and would try to improve - it lasted three days. I always hear that you can't teach a pig to sing and I'm wondering if that is what I am trying to do. Fridays are the worst - setting me up for a weekend of analyzing the situation. I'm on the verge of punting the whole deal since I have lots of other work and his is a very small part. Any suggestions? Most of the work is done over the telephone since he lives a rather vagabond lifestyle; I manage his personal and business finances from here.

    Signed, Disgusted
