    Office Politics/Job Appointment Problem!

    I work at a small business and as many people know, the office politics can get quite intense.

    I am currently looking for an assistant to help take some pressure off me in the marketing department. The director has arranged a meeting with myself, him and a girl in the admin department who is keen to further her career at the company. I am facing two problems;

    1) If this girls gets the job and I am her manager, I'm worried things are going to get tense as I am a little bit younger than her and we were at school together.

    2) She is very close with a gossipy bunch of people at work and as such, I do not trust that she can keep her mouth closed regarding business type things...

    What should I do?

    My gut is saying that I don't want her as my assistant however, in the economic climate, jobs are like gold dust aren't they.

    Help!!!
