    Bad therapist recommendation?

I recently went to a therapist due to the pressures of life and job hunting. Yes, I am jobless at the moment. Anyway, she said the best way to deal with rotten people is to say, "That's fine", if they accuse you of lying or something, and walk away.

This doesn't work with most of the people I've meet. They will either FOLLOW you insisting on talking about the topic or hate you forever because you belittled their opinion. So is there any other suggestions.
