    Big problem...

    I have 8 co workers 4 of them are phillipine and they start speaking their native language in front of all the other co workers who do not speak or understand their language we speak english... I am not a racist ... I do seem to think that it is disrespectful to others also to the clients it doesnt look professional...I personally speak 3 languages but at work i speak english.if for some reason a client does not speak the english.. and speaks i will help that person...if they speak spanish italian or french.....I hope you can help me with this.....

    Reply: I think you are right they are being rude. I dated a guy from Croatia and he spoke his native language in front of me to his friends and family and it made me feel alienated. I told him about it but it continued, we are no longer together. I am not sure what you should do but I would remain professional and only speak to them if you need to about work. There's no reason they should not be speaking English unless they are saying things they should not say. I would create strong boundaries with these people and continue to focus on yourself. Sorry you are experiencing this problem I know how you feel in a way!!! Good luck

    Reply: You could take a language course. Even if you learned just enough of the basics, you'd understand at least some of what they're saying. By all means, learn your name in their language. It's worth a try. Hang in there!
