    Afraid of going to work

My coworkers just don't like me, I had tried so hard to maintain my professional relationship with them, but no matter what I do, it just backfired. for example, couple of days ago, i am having trouble locating some account information, and I know this girl may have it in her computer. I went over and ask her , she seems really friendly and really wanted to help. I had also tell some of the employee that she is being very good and helpful. however, things turned out really unexpected. she went around her group of lunch friends and tell them that I order her to do work. Every since that day, I am afraid of going to work. afraid of asking them questions, or event a simple questions like, where are the pens?. Because I know for a fact that they will make a story out of it and try to make me feel bad. What can I do? I only being her less than a year, looking for a new job is kind of early and I don't want to leave like this. People are ignoring me, and I don't know how to go to work to fact them. My coworkers at my old job are nothing like this. I guess I really don't belong her.

Reply: The first issue I have with your post is your grammer and spelling errors. If you speak as poorly as you write, this could be why your co-workers treat you the way they do. Aside from that issue - which is important, maybe you should consider re-applying at your last job. It's true that a persons salary, (wage) is an important consideration in any job we choose, but sometimes the culture or style of communication between co-workers becomes more important than the money. Lastly, I'd suggest you talk directly to your boss or supervisor and ask for feed-back on how he/she thinks you are doing, job performance wise. If you choose to stay, instead of verbally asking co-workers for help, or where to find the pens, you might want to consider putting your 'very polite' requests on paper, and keeping a copy for yourself, (always give the recipient the original). Then if the 'stories and gossip' start up, you'll have proof to the contrary. Good luck.
